Dusty Showers is perhaps the most recognizable man in the fight against breast cancer. He is a strong man in a fancy pink bra, the father of two beautiful daughters, and has an intense passion for battling the cancer that has invaded his family’s life. Every year, through his friendships, Dusty is more determined to educate women about mammograms, self-exams, and support those battling breast cancer.
Dusty has achieved many honors; among them, he has appeared on Daytime, Malcom Out Loud, on the Oprah show as well as being named a Susan G.Komen For the Cure 3-Day 60 mile walk Ambassador. Dusty was sponsored by Hooters to participate in a walk down Chicago’s Michigan Avenue in a pink bra and has served as a guest speaker at several breast cancer fundraising and awareness events across the country. This tough 40 year old, also uses his wildlife business to promote breast cancer awareness and education.
While the majority of The 2nd Basemen are women, the movement is a tip of the hat to the amazing men that stand with women in the fight against breast cancer. In 2011, Dusty Showers the 2nd Basemen, LLLP, was incorporated as a business partnership that will support the work that Dusty and his team are doing to help women worldwide. Also, in 2011, The 2nd Basemen, Inc. was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to enrich the lives of both women and men (and their families) diagnosed with breast cancer by offering assistance to help them enjoy life and thrive despite their diagnosis and extensive & ongoing therapies.
